Step By Step Guidance To Fill Pathfinder Character Sheet
First and foremost, starting from the top right-hand side is the character bio. This is the information of what’s on your sheet and what’s to come as well as a nice juicy bit of inspiration to kind of remind you who you’re playing.
Character name – Very important, always make sure to choose something that’s going to suit your game and you.
Alignment: There are nine alignments to choose from, they are-
1) Lawful Good, 2) Neutral Good, 3)Chaotic Good, 4) Lawful Neutral, 5)True Neutral, 6) Chaotic Neutral, 7)Lawful Evil, 8)Neutral Evil, 9)Chaotic Evil.
The Chaotic and Lawful Spectrum is about whether you follow a code and are true to your word.
The Good and Evil scale is basically the morals of your Game Master and how this world functions with those morals.
Neutral is almost like a motivation, suppose if you’re lawful neutral you follow the law not bothering about whether it is good or evil.
Player: Who you are as a player, very important, just in case you forget who you are or what you belong to.
Character Level: Classes go in here along with whatever level your character is.
Deity: Your Deity is your god that you worship.
Homeland: Where do you come from?
Race- Your race, which is of course, your genetics, who and what you are.
Size, Gender, Age, Height, Weight, Hair, Eyes: Size is basically how big or small you are,
your gender is whatever you wanted to be, your age is obviously how old you are, your physical descriptions such as height, weight, hair and eyes is always good as it helps in describing you to people when you enter a scene.
What And How To Use Ability Scores
So the ability scores are basically, what we are and what our makeup is. We have three physical ability scores, and three mental ability scores.
Physical Ability Scores
Strength: Strength is our prowess, basically lift, push, pull, chop and melee attacks.
Dexterity: This is your accuracy, your aim, your nimbleness, your agility, your ability to dodge.
Constitution: This is your health, your hardiness and your endurance.
Mental Ability Scores
Intelligence: This is your ability to understand and learn and acquire knowledge, your ability to recall information.
Wisdom: This is your ability to perceive and interpret, so mainly your perception and your sense of motive and your ability to judge things.
Charisma- This is your ability to express yourself, so the ability to lie to someone or convince them your opinion is right.
Shifting to the right Side we now see our Hit Points, which is basically our health and when our hit points hit zero, we are knocked unconscious and when we hit negative hit points equal to our constitution score, we are considered to be dead.
So you want to make sure that you have nice chunks of hit points to be able to survive this game.
DR: This stands for Damage Reduction, this is a special ability that very few people actually get outside of magical items, it reduces incoming damage usually with some kind of weakness.
For example, it would be written for a werewolf, DR 5/Silver. What this basically means, is that if you were to use anything but a silver weapon you would have your damage reduced by 5.
Wounds/Current HP: This is pretty self-explanatory, it shows how much damage you have taken and how much hit points you have left.
Non Lethal Damage: Non-lethal damage is basically tracked separately to lethal damage because once you hit effectively zero hit points with the total of your lethal and non-lethal hit points, you are rendered unconscious. However, more lethal damage needs to be done before you are killed.
INITIATIVE: This determines whether it is your turn order in combat. This is calculated by applying your Dexterity Modifier.
Pretty simple, you roll your D20 dice which you roll for pretty much anything and your initiative, and you will know what turn you go in.
AC or Armor Class Section
This is of course the ability to defend yourself. Now a lot of people ask themselves whenever they make an attack if they can defend themselves or can i dodge out of the way or can I pull up a shield all of a sudden. All of that is taken into account in the armor class.
So starting from left to right-
TOTAL: You have your total armor which is of course your base armor that adds all of your little factors.
Base Value of 10: No one starts below 10.
Armor Bonus: This is of course the armor that you are wearing and it is the physical suit of armor that you have.
Shield Bonus: This is granted by whatever shield you have.
Dexterity Modifier: Modifiers are basically what we take from the score, to add bonuses to and everything and they are not one for one.
Size Modifier: Size modifiers generally go in the flavour of medium creatures.
Natural Armor: This consists of scales and thickness of your skin.
Deflection Modifier: Deflection Modifier usually from magic items like Ring of Protection where, the damage sort of deflects and dodges off you.
Misc. Modifier: This is basically whatever other miscellaneous bonuses you can apply to yourself.
Touch Armor Class: This involves your armor when all they need to do is lay a hand on you. So things like your shield, your natural armor and your actual armor will not matter, they will just need to touch you to deal any damage to you.
Flat Footed Armor Class: This is literally the opposite where you have only your armor to rely on because for some reason or another you cannot dodge or cannot move.
Hope this helped you in using a Pathfinder Character sheet and this is only a segment to help you fill in the information, so as to give you a sense on how to fill what’s next.
